About Me

If I were to describe myself I would I would say that I am creative and imaginative, an original thinker, self-motivated, sociable, ethical, good team player and fun to be with.

Creative and imaginative: I am always designing and making things and I almost always have a project under way. I have designed and made various items of clothing and doodling is a way of life for me, I always save ‘bits and bobs’ that I like the look of with the idea of making something with them at some stage.

Previously I studied Graphic Design at the London College of Communication. This was a really exciting development in my life. I attained 10 GCSE’s (Mainly Grades A* to B), and after a year of studying for academic AS levels I decided to change tack and do what I really wanted, something more creative, and I felt that for the first time in my life I was doing something I really want to do.

Self-motivated: A good Graphic Designer needs to be a self-starter and a hard worker, prepared to persevere and experiment. I have gained these skills in numerous ways. The fact that I am constantly designing things is at the heart of my self-motivation. If something doesn't work the first time, I adapt my ideas until I am satisfied. There is always so much to learn and I feel I am on a journey with new ideas around every corner. I have done work experience in two different Graphic Design studios. I approached the studios and obtained these really valuable opportunities.

Teamwork: For a career in Graphic Design I will need strong communication skills and inter-personal skills. I have developed in this area through participating in some interesting team activities.

Having excelled in numerous drama exams at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts up to Gold medal, in 2007 I was voted by my school year to be one of four producers of the annual school show. There were about 60 girls in the production. I learnt how to distribute tasks, how to co-operate and make a valuable contribution but at the same time knowing when to compromise. The show was a great success. I have also been a youth leader at a two-week residential summer camp for over 20 primary school children, organising the events and keeping them safe and active from morning until night.

Ethical: It is important to me to operate in an ethical way. In my future career I would definitely want to ensure that I design things that are not discriminatory or offensive and would want to try as far as I can to do things that are environmentally friendly.

I aspire to succeed in Graphic Design to the highest standard. As a current student of LCC I know it is the best place for me to make the most of my abilities and I am really looking forward to attaining the FdA Design for Graphic Communication at LCC.

As well as studying Graphic Design, I am currently the administrator at Ezra Youth Movement.
